The purpose I share my medical syllabus during my era is to help me know the topic should I revise during my free time to improve my medical knowledge and to give an idea for future medical students about the topic they would learn in medical school.
Topic of Dermatology discussed during my time in Medical School:
A. LECTURE:
1. 4th semester:
a. Dermatomusculoskeletal System:
- Basic structure and function of skin
- Skin rashes: Type of skin rashes, skin disease examination procedure
- Skin infection:Parasitic skin disease and parasitic agent of skin disease (Ectoparasites, filaria, arthropod and larval infestation), viral skin disease, fungal skin disease (superficial mycosis, cutaneous mycosis, subcutaneous mycosis, non dermato phytosis), bacterial skin disease (pyodermatic disease, cutaneous tuberculosis, leprosy)
- Dermatitis: Types, incidence, causes, symptoms, pathogenesis, clinical features, specific test, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, medication, complication, ictiosis, atopy dermatitis, napkin eczema
- Allergic skin disease: Urticaria, angioedema, allergic vasculitis, scleroderma, lupus erythematosus
- Skin pigmentation disorder: Vitiligo, melasma, albinism, post inflammation hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation
- Erythrosquamous disease
- Blistered skin disease
- Eccrine and sebaceous gland disorder: Acne vulgaris, rosacea, hidradenitis suppurativa, perioral dermatitis, miliaria
- Hair disorder: Alopecia areata, androgenetic alopecia, trichotillomania, telogen effluvium
- Non-infection inflammation of skin: Lichen planus, granuloma annulare, lichen sclerosus et atrophicus
- Skin and epithelial tumor (pre-malignant and malignant)
- Dermis and immigrant cell tumor
- Melanocyte cell tumor
2. 5th semester:
a. Genitourinary System:
- Sexually transmitted infection (STI)
3. 6th semester:
a. Emergency Medicine:
- Skin emergencies: Allergic skin disease
4. 7th semester:
a. Tropical Medicine:
- HIV and AIDS
B. SKILLS LABORATORY (OSCE):
1. 4th semester:
a. Dermatomusculoskeletal System:
- History taking in skin disease cases
- Management of abrasion wound
- Skin suturing technique
- Aseptic technique and introduction to minor surgical apparatus
2. 5th semester:
a. Genitourinary System:
- History taking of sexually transmitted infection cases
- Physical examination of male genitalia and collecting the specimen
