SECTION 1/2: ANATOMICAL PATHOLOGY

The purpose I share my medical syllabus during my era is to help me know the topic should I revise during my free time to improve my medical knowledge and to give an idea for future medical students about the topic they would learn in medical school.

Topic of Anatomical Pathology discussed during my time in Medical School:

A. LECTURE:
1. 1st semester:
a. Basics Biology of Cells 1:
- Cell damage and cell death
- Inflammation
- Function of immune system to fight tumor and cancer
b. Basics Biology of Cells 3 (Diagnosis and Therapy/ Intervention at Cellular/ Molecular):
- Alteration of cell and tissue

2. 2nd semester:
a. Metabolism System:
- Pathology (anatomical) of organ affected by metabolism disorder of carbohydrate, lipid and protein and their interpretation

3. 3rd semester:
a. Reproductive system:
- Histological feature of benign tumor in female reproductive organ (vulva, vagina, cervix, uterus, oviduct, ovary, and breast)
- Histological feature of malignancy in female reproductive organ (vulva, vagina, cervix, uterus, oviduct, ovary, and breast)

4. 4th semester:
a. Dermatomusculoskeletal System:
- Features of skin disease
- Histopathological features of skin lesion
- Histopathological features of blistered skin disorder and skin growth
- Histopathology of infection and congenital disorder involving muscolo-skeletal system
- Histopathology of bone benign neoplasm
- Histopathology of bone malignancy
- Biopsy of bone tumor
b. Cardiovascular System:
- Blood vessel disease: Pathogenesis of arterial blood vessel disorder, pathogenesis of venous blood vessel disorder, pathogenesis of blood and lymphatic vessel tumor
- Heart disease: Pathogenesis types of heart disorder, pathogenesis of ischaemic heart disease, pathogenesis of heart infection, pathogenesis of pericardial disease
c. Respiratory System:
- Histopathology of respiratory system disorder: Histopathology changes of lung infection disease, pneumonia and obstructive pulmonary disease

5. 5th semester:

- Pathology of genitourinary system cancer: Tumor of kidney, urinary vesicle, prostate, testis, penis

- Pathology of oral cavity disease: Pathology of Herpes stomatitis, oral thrush, acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis
- Pathology of tumor in oral cavity: Pathology of mucocele, pyogenic granuloma and benign squamous papilloma tumor, fibroma, lipoma, neurofibroma, hamangioma, oral cavity carcinoma
- Pathology of salivary gland disease: Pathology of sialolithiasis, parotiditis and Sjorgen syndrome, benign salivary gland tumor, pleomorphic tumor and arthin tumor, adenocarcinoma, mucoepidermoid carcinoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma
- Pathology of esophageal disease: anomaly of esophageal anatomy, pathology of inflammation of esophagus, esophagitis reflux, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

- Congenital eye disorder: Ocular albinism, pigmentous retinitis, x-linked coloboma
- Systemic disease related eye disease:  Exopthalmus in hyperthyroid disease, diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy
- Pathogenesis of infective eye disease: Pathogenesis of conjunctivitis, pathogenesis and histopathology of herpes simplex related corneal disease
- Pathology of eye neoplasm: Pathology of malignant melanoma, retinoblastoma, intraocular and orbital metastatic tumor

6. 6th semester:
a. Brain and Mind System:
- Neoplasm of central nervous system: Primary neuroglial tumor (Glioma: Well deffirentiated astrocytoma, anaplastic astrocytoma, glioblastoma multiforme), primitive neuroepithelial neoplasm (medulloblastoma), neuronal neoplasm (ganglion cell tumor), benign tumor in nervous system (meningioma, hemangioblastoma)
- Primary disease of myelin (multiple sclerosis)
- Nervous system infection disease: Meningitis, encephalitis, viral encephalitis

7. 7th semester:
a. Elective (Viral-Oncogene):
- Cell proliferation and tumor growth: Differentiation and anaplastic, rates of growth cancer stem cells and cancer cell lineages
- Cell death: Necrosis and apoptosis, evasion of apoptosis, host defense again tumors-tumor immunity
- Tumor progression and metastasis: Cellular-molecular and micro environmental factors
- Angiogenesis
- Grading and staging of tumors
- Laboratory diagnosis of cancer


B. LABORATORY:
1. 1st semester:
a. Basics Biology of Cells 3 (Diagnosis and Therapy/ Intervention at Cellular/ Molecular):
- Management process of tissue specimen
- Microscopic image of tissue

2. 3rd semester:
a. Reproductive system:
- Uterine myoma and ovarian cyst
- Endometriosis and cervical cancer

c. Respiratory System:
- Sinonasal polyposis, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, tuberculosis lymphadenitis, lungs carcinoma

b. Gastrointestinal System:
- Arrangement of digestive organ, liver and bile tract

5. 6th semester:
a. Brain and Mind System:
- Histopathology of nerve disorder

- Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) disorder: Cerebrospinal fluid analysis, changes of cerebrospinal fluid in bacterial-viral-fungal infection, changes of cerebrospinal fluid in subarachnoid hemorrhage-intracerebral hematoma-hypertensive encephalopathy-intracranial tumor-metabolic encephalopathy

7. 7th semester:
a. Tropical Medicine:
- Laboratory investigation in diagnosis of typhoid fever
- Laboratory investigation in diagnosis of dengue fever
- Laboratory investigation in diagnosis of HIV and AIDS
- Laboratory investigation in diagnosis of TORCH infection (Toxoplasmosis, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus, Herpes)
b. Family Medicine:
- Management of laboratory investigation: Management of laboratory referral, factors that affecting laboratory investigation result, improvement in laboratory internal quality
c. Elective (Viral-Oncogene):
- Laboratory test in oncology


B. LABORATORY:
1. 2nd semester:

- ESR (Erythrocytes Sedimentation Rate), Hb Sahli, Hb Sian, MCV, Haematocrit test

- Seminal fluid analysis and pregnancy test

3. 4th semester:

5. 7th semester:
